Another thing.

can the rss have some kind of 'preview' of the link?

or it suck too much bandwidth?

I hate that I have to click to see an abstract form a rss reader

Please support HTTPS!

Apart from that: site looks good, HN is OK but I love to see some innovation. For example, I hope this site got rid of the annoying "session expired" all the time.

Hi Anitrez, What is the rational behind creating this site? Is there a about page somewhere ?
felix 209 days ago. link 0 points
I think an independent site has merit. HN has become pretty biased towards YCombinator and its startups.

Thanks, may be time has come to take a plunge in Redis.

Hi!

I finally put the site online, and created the Google group:

http://groups.google.com/group/lamernews

(ehm... I guess the next commit will be about turning urls into links for comments ;)

I hope we can build some kind of consortium to make the site evolve without any central authority. It would be cool to select a "core team" of people, so that I can also share the VPS credentials with them.

Thanks for participating.

will you also be applying a markup language? or maybe some *syntax*?
antirez 209 days ago. link 0 points
Hi pooya72, the plan was to avoid markup in order to make it an USENET-alike experience, that is not bad when the subject is writing code.

However not everybody will use lamernews code base to make programming forums so possibly it should be possible to switch between this "raw" mode and markdown easily.
